*** Available in our Joilet Office and Hoffman Estates Office***

At Advanced Foot & Ankle Centers of Illinois, our team works hard to offer flexible and convenient treatment solutions that can help our patients overcome their foot concerns faster and more comfortably than conventional methods alone.

One such tool that’s now available at our Joliet office is the Remy Laser system.

“The Remy” is an advanced, Class IV laser that offers a safe, effective, and versatile option for foot and ankle care. It can assist in the treatment of a variety of conditions, including:

How the Remy Laser Works

Like many forms of laser therapy, Remy works by using laser energy to stimulate your body’s cells. This increases the production of ATP, which in turn helps facilitate things like increased cellular metabolism, improved circulation, reduced inflammation, and accelerated healing processes. In many ways, it’s very similar to MLS laser therapy, another advanced tool we use at our Joliet, Orland Park, Kenosha, and Schaumburg offices.

What makes the Remy unique is its versatility. The device can emit lasers at a variety of therapeutic wavelengths and comes with a variety of interchangeable handpieces, allowing us to use the same tool for a variety of different patient needs.

The therapy is also extremely safe, painless, drug free, and has very few contraindications, meaning it can be added to almost any treatment plan conveniently and with minimal risk.

Remy Laser for Pain

Remy is a great option for treating pain and inflammation from soft tissue pain, including Achilles tendinitisplantar fasciitisneuromas, and ankle sprains. It may even help you avoid surgery or costly physical therapy sessions.

Remy therapy triggers cellular reproduction and growth to accelerate tissue repair of muscle, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and even bone. It can also reduce the formation of scar tissue, which can impair healing and lead to a greater risk of chronic pain.

Treatment sessions are brief, comfortable, and require no special preparation or downtime. A series of several treatment sessions will be scheduled over a few weeks to provide optimal results.

Remy Laser for Fungal Toenails

Laser therapy is the safest and most comfortable choice for dealing with fungal toenail infections. The Remy laser is able to pass through the nail and kill the fungi living on the nail bed without causing any pain or harmful side effects.

This makes it a great alternative to conventional therapies like oral antifungal medications, which can cause side effects in some people. The Remy can also be used alongside traditional antifungal medications to magnify the healing effect of both techniques.

Once the fungi on the nail bed have been eliminated, you are able to regrow new, healthy, clear nails.

Remy Laser for Surgical Recovery

Although use of the Remy laser can often help people avoid surgery altogether by helping the body to naturally heal its own damaged tissues, Remy also makes a good companion to surgery when it is needed.

Use of laser therapy after a surgical procedure can help the surgical site heal faster and reduce the formation of scar tissue, and can also help keep pain and swelling controlled. It can also boost the functioning of your immune system, helping to reduce the risk of post-surgical infections.

Remy Laser for Plantar Warts

There are a variety of different techniques we use to treat warts, including cryotherapy or topical use of a peeling medication. Severe warts resistant to other forms of treatment, however, may require surgical excision.

Remy can be used as part of a wart treatment plan in numerous ways, including as a tool to excise the wart itself, and also as a way to “burn” the core of the wart after excision, which helps eradicate the infection and reduce the risk of the wart reappearing.
