Aquaroll is just one of many advanced forms of therapy we are proud to provide patients at Advanced Foot & Ankle Centers of Illinois.
The benefits of Aquaroll include pain relief, faster soft tissue recovery, and improved circulation in the feet and ankles. Professional athletes such as Shaquille O’Neal and Kevin Durant have included this advanced therapy in their treatment plans, and now you can too.
How Does Aquaroll Therapy Work?
During an Aquaroll session, a patient will submerge their feet in a basin containing warm water and 30,000 tiny glass beads.
Aquaroll manipulates the basin to provide a natural wave effect within. This shifts and rotates the beads, creating a compressive and vibratory effect against the feet. This effect is consistent and controlled (and also feels very good.)
Throughout the session, we may ask you to perform certain range of motion exercises with your feet and ankles. This can help strengthen affected areas and improve the results of the sessions.
How Does Aquaroll Help with Certain Conditions?
It might look and feel somewhat like a spa treatment, but Aquaroll can have several beneficial effects for patients experiencing pain or in need of improved recovery from certain problems.
The controlled action of the waves and beads during an Aquaroll session stimulates blood flow within the feet and ankles. Increased circulation, in turn, can:
- Provide cells more of the nutrients and growth factors they need to perform their functions – including repairs.
- Relieve swelling by carrying away excess liquid from an area.
- Help decrease pain through improved healing.
Aquaroll therapy can be applied as a singular treatment, or be recommended as part of an overall treatment plan. Many different conditions may benefit from it, including (but not limited to):
- Heel Pain
- Arch Pain
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles Tendinitis
- Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome
- Diabetic Neuropathy
Additionally, Aquaroll can be an effective way for patients to recover faster from both various sports-related injuries as well as surgery.
